The Ringwood Cricket Club is saddened to communicate the sad passing of Jim Myerscough, on the 19th of July. |
Husband of Jan, and father of Steve, Kerri and Tim, we offer our condolences to Jim’s immediate and extended family and friends. Jim had a 20-year association with The Ringwood Cricket Club as player and continued a love of cricket and the club up until his passing. He and Jan visited the new club facilities in the 2nd half of the season just concluded. Jim loved his family and loved his travel, especially down to Marlo where he was able to enjoy the countryside and clean air. The Ringwood Cricket Club history account, “Blue and Gold”, described Jim as a fierce competitor on the field and a lovable ‘gentleman’ off the field. Someone who left everything inside the fence and was most popular with opposition players at any after match functions. To understand Jim’s contribution to The Ringwood Cricket Club, one only needs to view his career summary. Highest Wicket Taker in the Club’s History, Team of the Century member, Premiership Player and Captain, RCC Life Member and one of only two players in the history of the club to be awarded Legend Status. For a generation of young players at Ringwood he inspired and taught, and most of all made sure they remembered that cricket was fun and a game to be enjoyed to the full. Vale Jim Myerscough

An outstanding contributor to our club and a tremendous support to me in my years as Secretary. Jim had a wicked sense of humour and I will miss our conversations.
A very sad time for his wonderful wife Jan and his family. A sensational Life Member of the Ringwood Cricket Club.
I’m privileged to have played under Jim who was a fierce competitor, an astute captain and leader but also a bloke who made playing enjoyable through his great sense of humour.
Vale Jimmy
My first captain at RCC, I learned more about playing and enjoying cricket from Jimmy than anyone else I met in the game. Rest easy Jimmy.
Thank you to all for your kind words and condolences. Dad was an amazing man and he was always willing to spend some time with you. Especially when you were working to be the very best version of yourself you could be. It broke his heart when I had to give up cricket as I worked every Saturday. But the same thing happened to Shane Ricci so I was quickly forgiven. As a Dad he was the same Jimmy you all knew. He was intelligent, clever, resourceful and supportive. He helped out at Little Aths for Brother and Sister. Did the Scoreboard at Steve’s basketball. He was the loudest baracker at Kerri’s netball, Mandy Freeman can vouch for that. And he coached the Junior Teams I played in at RIngwood and Umpired my Baseball Games. We were never criticized, only encouraged.
If Heaven has a cricket team, you can be sure he’ll be coaching it!
